How do I power Starlink at a backcountry camp?

The included Li-ion battery pack runs the dish 4–5 hours unplugged. For longer trips, pair it with a power bank, generator, or your vehicle's 12V outlet at a road-end camp.

Does it work in valleys and bush?

It needs a clear view of the sky. Deep gorges and dense canopy block signal — set up at a clearing, riverbed, slip face, or ridge near camp.

Timing your rental for the season

Book early for the roar (late March–April) — it's our busiest window and dishes are limited. Tahr and chamois missions, duck opening weekend at the pond, and summer river trips are all popular too. We ship by tracked courier to any NZ address with about two days' lead time, and the box includes a pre-paid return label — post it back from the nearest town on your way out.

Will it work in the valley I'm hunting?

It needs sky. Deep gorges and heavy canopy are the enemies — set up at a clearing, riverbed, or slip near camp. If you can see a decent patch of sky, you're generally in business.

How heavy is the setup?

Dish, cables, and battery pack come in around 3 kg — fine for a base camp you're walking into once, or anything vehicle-, boat-, or heli-accessed.

What if it rains?

The dish is weather-resistant but our rental agreement requires sheltering it from rain — a fly or hut porch does the job. Keep the battery pack dry always.
